Digital & The Analogues

Digital and the Analogues are a four-piece musical outfit from Birmingham, UK. Their early songs were a rich fusion of dissonance and sprawling melody, new technology and contemporary ways of creating sound. This produced often highly experimental pieces of "music"; however, this method lacked general direction. After rehearsing and performing small gigs without a bass player, the band decided that their songs needed to be lighter, more upbeat, and have a groovier edge. Oliver Pyper was recruited to play bass for what is now known as Digital and the Analogues.

With this change in line-up, the band started to create a more refined sound, drawing influences from Radiohead, Sonic Youth, Neil Young, Devo and Pink Floyd's early years. Their current direction allows their music to smoothly change from intense walls of sound, soft acoustic arrangements, almost-funk grooves and straight ahead rock 'n' roll throughout the course of a set.
